NOW:
DIGITAL DARKNESS CD
(HYMEN) http://www.hymen-records.com
"Digital Darkness! They
couldn't find any better title for this beautiful album. Somatic Responses are magicians, like no one else they are
able to
create tracks that "look beautiful" like a rose and have a
scary background
like straight out of hell.
This album is amazing, it is accessible but not dull, and it
combines
classic analogue instruments citation's with modern sounds. The mood
of
each track is so deep and multilayered, that you will fall deeper
and
deeper into a hidden world of sound.
Right from the start with the great opening track
"duality" this album owns
energy without a pause, but its not this straight in your face sound
its
intelligent handled energy like walking a marathon. It's disturbing
and fun
to listen to this album. It's more Technoid and danceable compared
to its
antecessor, but Somatic Responses doesn't lost nothing of their
typical
attitude and sound with this step.
This album is a landmark and a wonderful bittersweet journey into a
beautiful hell of bits and bytes.
Great! 100% approvable..."
We've got a new acid tracks out on Puzzlin'
records which will be part of a "ACID" compilation. It's a split with BRIXTON. It's a right bobby dazzler of an EP! ACID ANYONE..........?
Somatic Responses

GIAUZAR (SUBLIGHT CD) & HYMEN (12") http://www.sublightrecords.com
"Still rough-round the edges like a block of
aural-concrete, the Somatic boys are back with a brand new LP that
takes their abrasive electronica and plugs it directly into the
mains... The sibling duo of John and Paul Healy, Somatic Responses
broadly fall into the pen which houses the likes of Venetian Snares,
Knifehandchop and Exile - wherein broad palates of midnight-beats
and threatening atmospherics are fed to the dogs in an orgy of
disrupted digitalis goodness. Opening with the sprawling soundscape
of 'Split' (think Zan Lyons before the fireworks began), the Healy
boys don't hold out on the beats for long - with the mighty
posturing of 'B Boy 3000' more than sating the rhythmical appetite.
Verging on the cusp of Alec Empire territory, 'B Boy 3000' declines
from crumbling into all out chaos thanks to some tethered
foundations that keep the mood carbonated as opposed to death-threat
- a situation played out throughout 'Giauzar'. Grand in scale
without relying on needless posturing, tracks like 'Germ', 'Heliuminum'
and 'Shell' coax out the cinematic from the wires, evoking the
memory of John Carpenter as viewed through bullet-shattered glass.
Veering briefly into Drexciya territory for the penultimate 'Strangulartk
Robot', Somatic Responses see you out on a swirling bed of synth
clouds, bring to close an album which proves the ruptured
hard-drives of broken-beated chaos can still elicit emotions beyond
those of confused tedium. Music: Response."
NEW RELEASES
We're proud to say that
there's a new SR member in town!
Ewan Healy was born on
10/02/08 and is a little smasher (if you don't mind me saying
so).
He's got Paul's temper so
watch out people ;-)
We've got another release with Puzzlin'
which should be out in July (there's currently only Test Pressing
floating around). It's a 6 track acid monster which is one for the
oldskool hardcore acid fans out there!
The seminal Axon
EP on IST WILL be repressed (at last right!) - it's due
for release in July :-)
We're proud to be part of an awesome EP featuring
Promethus Burning, Minion, Valav & of course SR. The EP is
called Feed the
Machine which is being released on No Room for Talent - it's
still in the Test Pressing phase but should be out in July /
August. Here's what Greg (label owner says about the whole damn
thing):
"Feed the Machine is another new series
dedicated the fathers of the hard sound. (as seen through the eyes
of Greg Trash) They are the ones who first pulled influence from
others and started making the music now called breakcore. This is a
dedication to those who not only helped forge the scene but they are
still an integral part of it.
"
We've also got a new ep out very soon entitled "ZOMBIE", based on the work of Max Brooks (World War Z) - if everything goes to plan this should come out on
Thaco Records USA & will be pressed on Puss Green Vinyl with a full picture sleeve.
You can get a sneak peak of the artwork here.
Also, we're now in a position to unleash some new
SR works onto the world. Expect a CD or two this year as we've already
stock piled about 3 CDs worth of material.
Some of which we'll place in the Tracks
section of the site (once I learn how to do it - yes I know I'm
shit :-) ) .
If you want to book us & let's face it YOU
SHOULD, please email us if you wish to book us for either a Live PA or DJ set.
Check out a nice
bit of ACID from a recent gig in Rotterdam (Sidekick).
